TransCoop Program 2006
Deadline: October 31, 2005
Within the framework of the TransCoop Program, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation provides funds for cooperative research between German, US, and/or Canadian scholars in the fields of the humanities, social sciences, economics, and law. The funds are supplied by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The maximum duration of sponsorship for a TransCoop project is three years.
The TransCoop Program offers opportunities to researchers from universities and other research institutions in all three countries. Priority is given to new research initiatives central to the disciplines cited above. However, joint projects may also address topics from within the natural sciences, including engineering and life sciences, which are closely related to the humanities or social sciences.
Funding
The amount of funding is variable and may be used for:
- Short-term research visits at the partner's institute for up to three months per year
- Travel expenses
- Conference organization (maximum 20% of total)
- Material and equipment
- Printing costs
- Staff costs for research assistants working on the cooperative project, e.g. collecting and analysing data (maximum 20 % of total)
Grant Procedure
Applications should be submitted jointly by at least one German and one US and/or Canadian scholar and should be signed by at least two partners. The partners should have completed their doctoral degrees and should have conducted post-doctoral research.
The program selection committee chooses the proposals to be funded based on the following criteria:
